The camera is back in action and just in time to catch some amazing pictures of my son's last football game of the season today and to get this Halloween card posted before it's too late! Yes...Halloween is just around the corner! Craziness!
When I started making this card, I made the mistake of thinking that I had it totally planned out in my head. Yeah...because we all know that crafting goes exactly to plan. What I had planned was pretty much what I ended up with except, I wanted to have some sort of "blood" in the background. I tried a few different ideas and nothing gave me that perfect "splatter" that I was going for. I do believe that if I would have bought glossy cardstock, that red alcohol ink would give me the look that I was going for. But alas, I was still very happy with what turned out and decided not to keep pursuing that perfect idea that was still in my head...there's always next year.
The image was stamped on vellum using black ink and the edges were torn and lightly distressed with the same black ink. I made sure to use my heat tool to dry the my image right away since ink can take a while to dry on vellum and I have a tendency to be messy while I'm working. If you don't have a heat tool, just make sure that you give the image time to dry before touching it.
Next, I stamped the image of the raven and magic potion label with the same black ink. After cutting both of them out, I simply applied a thin layer of glue all over the raven and used it to adhere a layer of black glitter. The feather came with the glitter on it so it saved me a step!
After allowing time for all of my pieces to dry, I used small amounts of glue to adhere my vellum to the card stock. Using a foam dimensional dot, I adhered my potion label then stuck my raven on that.
Lastly, I tied a black satin ribbon around and made sure to adhere the part of the ribbon that is on the inside of the card so that it would not move around or slip off.
This isn't really a hard card to make, once the planning was all done, it went together rather quickly!
Now is the time to buy all of your Halloween paper crafting supplies, as most stores are starting to put them on sale to make way for Thanksgiving, fall and Christmas stuff!
It's a rainy and dreary day here so I am hoping to get some more great projects done! Enjoy and let me see what you're working on!
Craft on!
